The Scottish Golf Union organises and runs an annual Rules of Golf courses,  normally taking place in February or March each year, subject to demand. The course is open to any member of an SGU or SLGA affiliated golf club. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Whether you are the Secretary of a golf club, a committee member or club official wishing to increase your knowledge of the rules, or a novice wishing to learn the basics, then you can benefit from attending one of our courses. You’ll also have the chance to meet with other people from clubs across the country and members of the SGU’s Events Department.

The course includes:

• Practical Demonstrations
• Video Presentations
• Group Discussions
• Syndicate Questions
• Q&A Sessions
• Guest Speaker from the R&A Rules Department
• Guidance on Refereeing
• Final Assessment

Successful candidates from the Final Assessment will be presented with the SGU’s Rules of Golf Award.

Rules of Golf Reminders

It’s easy to forget some of the rules of golf or perhaps you are new to the game and need to improve your knowledge of the rules. The Scottish Golf Union have made it easier for you by producing a series of Rules Reminders posters, explaining some of the game’s most important rules and illustrating how to put them into practice.  These are included in the Related Documents section.
