clubgolf Junior Club of the Year 2009

Alford GC - Junior Club of the Year 2007 clubgolf, Scotland’s national Junior Golf programme, is proud to support the third annual Junior Club of the Year Award, and entries are now open.

The award recognises those clubs in Scotland that have demonstrated excellence in managing Junior Golf at their facility in 2009.  There are just two prerequisites to submitting your club’s nomination:

  • Your club must have a Child and Adult Protection Policy in place and a current nominated Child Protection Officer who has completed satisfactory disclosure checks as required by the SGU Child Protection service
  • Your club must offer equal opportunities to Girls and Boys in coaching programmes, team matches, and other activities provided for your Junior members

Scottish golf clubs are invited to submit their entries on the official nomination form which can be downloaded from this page (only one entry per club will be accepted).

Completed forms must be returned to the following address before the closing date Friday 11th June, 2010:

All nominations received before the closing date will be acknowledged.  Within a week following the closing date our panel of judges will select a shortlist of six finalists.

The judges will visit each of the six shortlisted clubs between Monday 28th June and Friday 9th July, at which time each finalist will have the opportunity to showcase their efforts to develop Junior Golf.  The winning club will be announced at The Old Course, St Andrews on Wednesday 14th July (final practice day for the Open Championship).

The winning club will receive £1,000 towards development of their junior golf programme, and will be invited to put forward a team of three adult members to play in a European Tour Pro Am later in 2010.

Each of the other finalists will receive a runners-up prize of £300.

Alford GC were the inaugural winners in 2007, and Ranfurly Castle GC were recognised as Junior Club of the Year in 2008.
