Junior Golf AwardsTHE RBS JUNIOR GOLF AWARDS 2011-12 This celebrated award will be presented by one of the country’s leading golfers at The Scottish Golf Awards Dinner, March 2012. Junior development is a hugely important aspect of any club and through the annual RBS Junior Golf Awards, ClubGolf rewards clubs that demonstrate excellence in promoting junior golf. With a £1,000 prize presented to the winning facility or club, plus funds available to three runners-up, there is plenty of incentive to enter and help to win funds for your junior section. Our aim is to recognise success, development and innovative ideas throughout 2011. Does your club or facility run ClubGolf coaching sessions for juniors? Closing date for nominations has been extended to 5pm on Friday, 10 February 2012. An independent judging panel will select four finalists. Two representatives from the shortlisted clubs or facilities will be invited to attend the Scottish Golf Awards Dinner where the RBS Junior Golf Award for 2012 will be announced. Orkney Golf Club awarded clubgolf Junior Club of the Year 2009
PGA Captain, Jim Farmer, who was part of this year’s judging panel, awarded Orkney GC £1,000 from the SGU, to be invested in its junior programme. The club was also invited to put forward a team of three adult members to play in a European Tour pro-am, playing alongside a leading professional golfer. The six runners up clubs - Eyemouth GC (Berwickshire), Gullane GC (East Lothian), McDonald GC (Ellon, Aberdeenshire), Orkney GC, Palacerigg GC (North Lanarkshire), Powfoot GC (Dumfries & Galloway) and The Royal Montrose GC (Angus) - were each awarded £300 from the SGU to help develop their junior programmes.
