The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, which gets underway on Thursday 12 July through to Sunday 15 July, features some of the world’s best golfers taking on the challenge of the stunning Highland links setting.
Defending champion and World No 1 Luke Donald return to Castle Stuart, aiming for another double having already secured his second successive BMW Championship crown earlier this year, while former Scottish Open Ernie Els will undoubtedly prove to be a crowd favourite with the Scottish galleries.
Els’ countryman Louis Oosthuizen, winner of The Open Championship at St Andrews two years ago, will fancy his chances of another victory while another former Major champion, Angel Cabrera is aiming to become the second Argentinean winner of the event following Eduardo Romero’s 2002 win.
The home challenge will be led by Paul Lawrie, currently 6th in the Race to Dubai standings, with Martin Laird returning home seeking to boost his Ryder Cup chances. Scott Jamieson, third at Castle Stuart last year, heads north looking for a return to form while another former SGU graduate Richie Ramsay will fancy his chances of a successful week. Rookie professionals James Byrne, David Law and Michael Stewart have also received call-ups to the event, hoping to repeat some of their recent success at amateur level.
Tickets for the event are on sale via the European Tour website at £30 for an adult day pass, saving £5 against the gate price, with season tickets also available for £70, a saving of £10.
