Ross Kellett’s Bradenton Blog – Day Five
30/01/10Scotland’s leading amateur Ross Kellett reports from the squad’s training camp at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida as the players prepare for next week’s Jones Cup Invitational and the season ahead. Friday 29 January Today we had a later breakfast just after 0800, as we've been up really early all week. After breakfast we headed for the meeting room along at the range. Today’s session was all about confidence and how we can use it, improve on it and develop it through our golf. It was a very worthwhile exercise and one which we all enjoyed and took a lot out of. Once our session was finished, it was around 1000 and we went off to the range for some practice. Weather report not as good today – slightly overcast with a little breeze. Not quite as warm either but still very nice and we certainly aren’t complaining! After lunch we headed to the Academy course to do some warm up and short game practice, before getting down to some golf. We played the same course as we did a couple of days ago, although this time we knew our way around. David Law was finally back in action on the course today, his first round for two months. It was great to see him out again, having had such an amazing season last year, and he played pretty well considering his lay off. James (White) and I took the honours with a respectable score of level par in difficult conditions, with a breeze and some tough pin positions. We had a few games on tennis before dinner which was great fun. The IMG Nick Bolletieri Tennis Academy is alongside the golf and it’s unbelievable. We’ve had use of a few courts all week and the boys love a game. Some of the biggest names in tennis have been here before, such as Agassi, Becker, Hingis and Seles. I think a few of us fancy ourselves as tennis players too! We had dinner a little later tonight as we were pretty tired after our busy day. But we relaxed, had a laugh and got back to the apartment about 9. Another great day had by the lads looking forward to tomorrow!
