Stephen Gallacher, the Scottish European Tour professional, exclusively spoke to SGU TV after the recent launch of his own junior foundation.

Following in the spike marks of compatriot and former Open champion Paul Lawrie, The Stephen Gallacher Foundation bids to also help more children enjoy and progress in the game.

With the support of the SGU and working alongside ClubGolf, the national junior golf programme, Linlithgow-based Gallacher and his team are initially focusing their energies in the Lothians and Borders regions, with a view to rolling out to more of Central Scotland in the future.

At the launch at Kingsfield Golf Centre on the outskirts of Linlithgow, Gallacher took time out to speak to SGU TV in more detail about the Foundation, ClubGolf and his own amateur days, which delivered a number of triumphs, including Scottish Amateur glory in 1992.

The 37-year-old also talks about the current buoyant state of Scottish Golf within the pro ranks and discusses the potential for a Scot in the European Ryder Cup team at Medinah in September.
