| The Allied Surveyors Scottish Amateur Championship is the SGU's flagship event, featuring the leading 256 amateur golfers in Scotland. The championship began in 1922 and has witnessed many famous victors, including legendary amateurs Ronnnie Shade and Charlie Green as well as some of the stars of the modern game, Colin Montgomerie and Stephen Gallacher. Carnoustie hosts the 2008 championship whilst next year's venue is Royal Troon. Each match shall consist of one round of 18 holes except the final which will be played over 36 holes. In the event of a halved match in any round, players shall continue to play until one player wins a hole. |
Entry Details:
This Championship is open to any male amateur golfer who was either born in Scotland, has one parent or grandparent born in Scotland or can prove principal, permanent residency in Scotland for a period of not less than 3 years, and has not played for any other countryメs International Team at Boyメs level or higher or competed in a closed Championship of any country other than Scotland except as a boy. The starting field shall be 256 and, in the event of an over-entry, the number shall be reduced in order of exact handicap. Entrants who have failed to gain entry will be allocated to a reserve list by order of handicap.

Gullane Golf Club in East Lothian, Scotland offers championship quality links golf courses with dramatic views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and Fife. The three golf courses do not have names but simply numbers which reflect their age. Gullane No. 1 has a long history of hosting international Championship golf events and is an Open Championship Qualifying course. The No. 1 Course will be hosting local final qualifying for the Open in 2013 when the Championship is played at Muirfield.
