Muirfield is one of the world's most famous golf courses, situated just outside Gullane on the East Lothian coast. An Open Championship venue on 15 occasions, this will be the sixth time the course has hosted the Home Internationals. Ernie Els was the last Open Champion here in 2002, defeating Thomas Levet, Stuart Appleby and Steve Elkington in a dramatic play-off.
