The R&A & Scottish Golf level 2 Rules School is hosted by qualified instructors from the R&A, SGU and SLGA, all with experience of refereeing at some of the world’s most elite amateur and professional tournaments.
This three-day course seeks to develop and enhance your knowledge by guiding you through Rules 1-28 and outlines the importance of the defined terms used in the rule book.
The most recent course was held in March 2014 in the Tom Morris Building at the St Andrews Links Practice Centre, with the date of the next course to be confirmed. Please register your interest at firstname.lastname@example.org
The course is open to golf club officials and members of an affiliated golf club within GB&I, as whether you’re an expert golfer or a complete novice it is important to have a good understanding of both the rules and etiquette of golf. The course provides an insight into the rules by using practical demonstrations, question and answer sessions and interactive DVD presentations.
The course is made up of both seminars and practical demonstrations covering the fundamentals of match and stroke play. These include: playing the ball as it lies, dealing with relief situations, water hazards, ground under repair, obstructions, balls lost or out of bounds.
A starter pack is issued to all successful candidates, including a copy of the Decisions on the Rules of Golf 2014/2015, and practice papers to help with preparation.
The 2014 course was priced at £165 and included all refreshments and lunches during the course.
