Ever Wondered How a Course is Given its Standard Scratch Score?

If you or anyone at your club is interested in taking on this new role, gaining a course rating accreditation, getting the chance to play new courses in the process and giving something back to the game, we’d love to hear from you.

What is Course Rating? Tell me more!

As part of a fully trained team, Course Raters walk golf courses assessing the difficulty of each hole in line with the USGA Course Rating Framework which ensures consistency in the measurement of each course’s difficulty. The result being an agreed Standard Scratch Score (SSS) which is used as the basis for the handicapping system and a key benefit of being a golf club member in Scotland.
