Edzell Golf Club lies at the gateway to the Grampians. Indeed these mountains form a backdrop to this lovely heathland/parkland setting.
The original course was laid out by Bob Simpson of the renowned Carnoustie family and was revised in 1933 by James Braid, since then it has remained largely unchanged.
On a substantial site of 128 acres with every corner a picture, the couse offers a gentle start which soon (at the second hole!) gives way to a series of testing holes, all well bunkered, with trees and rough, the River West Water and the old Caledonian Railway line (now disused) all to be contended with or, even better, avoided.
