The Royal Musselburgh is generally regarded as the sixth oldest Golf Club in the world, the accepted founding date being 1774. The Club began life on the ancient links at Musselburgh and gained its Royal status through its connection with HRH the Duke of Connaught.

The Old Club Cup was first presented in 1774 and is the oldest trophy in the world still played for. Usually on display in the British Golf Museum, this beautiful silver Cup is presented to the winner of the Autumn meeting at the Club’s annual dinner. (see Gallery)

James Braid designed the new parkland course at Prestongrange Estate when the Club moved the short distance to there from the congested Musselburgh links in 1925. A flat front nine is followed by a gently undulating back half. The course surrounds a magnificent A-listed clubhouse and has views to Arthur's Seat and the Forth. An East Lothian gem.
