ClubGolf – National Junior Programme
ClubGolf is Scottish Golf’s national junior programme, introducing thousands of youngsters to the game in schools and at over 300 clubs every year.
ClubGolf in Schools
ClubGolf coaching is first delivered in primary schools by teachers or qualified, disclosed volunteer coaches. The taster programme is designed to introduce nine year-olds to some basic golfing skills and terms while taking part in a fun activity using colourful, modified golf equipment.
If you are a school or teacher interested in finding out more, your local Active Schools Coordinator can help with training opportunities, and the equipment is affordable through the Local Authority/ClubGolf funding partnership.
To find out more, contact our Regional Schools & Community Officers.
ClubGolf in Clubs
Children can progress to ClubGolf coaching at a local golf club or facility to help them reach their potential and enjoy their golf. The programme is led by PGA professional coaches and PGA qualified volunteer coaches.
- Stage One includes putting, chipping and the full swing and also gives a fundamental understanding of the game including rules and etiquette in the first year. Year two builds on the skills learned in the first year, with pitching and bunker play added to the programme.
- Stage Two introduces more complex concepts including shot-making skills, course management and how to deal with different situations on the golf course. Children will expect to develop their skills and attain a CONGU handicap, as well as a range of associated life skills including respect, integrity and self-motivation.
- Stage Three coaching is delivered through the Scottish Golf Development Academy
