National coach for Scotland’s National Under 18 Boys’ Squad, overseeing development and performance programmes, implementing annual training and playing schedules and travelling with teams to domestic and international events.


Spencer was the coach to the victorious European Youths Team in 2005 and followed that up with wins in The Boys Quadrangular and Home Internationals in 2006, and runner-up at the 2006 European Boys Team Championship. He was also Assistant Coach for Scotland’s Eisenhower Trophy win in 2008. Spencer was appointed as Turkey’s first full-time National Coach in 2010 and led both the men’s and ladies’ teams to their best finishes at the 2012 World Amateur Team Championship. He then went on to take another unique role, becoming the National Coach of the Azerbaijan Golf Association. A number of boys’ players that Spencer worked with have gone on to represent Scotland at men’s level and then turn professional, including Bradley Neil, David Law, Ross Kellett, Jack McDonald and Grant Forrest. A coach for 18 years, Spencer’s qualifications also include: UK PGA Qualified & PGA Fellow Professional.
