Torrance Park Golf Club – Assistant Greenkeeper

Torrance Park Golf Club, provides an enjoyable test of golf for golfers of all ability. The 18 hole par 71 course extends to over 6100 yards over the gently undulating moorland setting of North Lanarkshire. The Club is seeking an Assistant Greenkeeper to join the Greenkeeping team at Torrance Park Golf Club. To ensure members and guests have the superb experience the course promises, we need passionate greenkeepers to carry out turf maintenance and prepare the golf course for play. You will ideally have some greenkeeping experience and seeking to further your career, however we will consider individuals who demonstrate a passion for the industry but who have not had much practical experience. Alloa Golf Club – Catering Franchise

Alloa Golf Club, founded in 1891, is a popular James Braid course set in 150 acres in the Scottish central belt. The Club are looking for an experienced caterer to run their restaurant serving members and visitors throughout the season. The course has hosted national events in recent years and is very popular with visitors and golf societies. An opportunity now exists to take on the catering franchise within the club. An understanding of Golf Club catering would be an advantage. Carnoustie Golf Links – Chief Executive

Carnoustie Golf Links is a charity (CGLMC Ltd.) whose responsibility is to manage and maintain the 3 golf courses at Carnoustie. These are the world famous Championship Course which will host the Open Championship in 2018, the Burnside Course and Buddon Links Course. The courses are owned by the local authority, Angus Council and we operate under a Management Agreement with the Council which currently runs until 2033. CGLMC Ltd has control of all income and expenditure and in recent years has generated significant surpluses which have been reinvested into the courses and other facilities such as the 2.3 million pound Golf Centre opened in July 2011. In January 2017 we began a £5 million project to extend and upgrade the Golf Centre, which is due for completion in December 2017.

Carnoustie Golf Links are now seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive who will be responsible for the strategic and operational direction of the organisation – ultimately the successful candidate will be responsible for the management and administration of all Carnoustie Links staff, courses, buildings and facilities. The Chief Executive will provide the Board of Trustees with advice and information on all relevant matters including financial targets and enable the Board to fulfil its responsibilities for the proper governance of the Charity, allowing it to meet its charitable objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and experience in developing and implementing business and strategic plans to meet the challenges and ever-increasing demands of a world leading organisation. In addition, the successful appointee will need the vision, entrepreneurial commitment, management expertise and outstanding communication skills to ensure that the Charity is run professionally, prudently, and efficiently.

Scottish Golf Volunteer Opportunities

National Golf Course Raters

Scottish Golf, the governing body of the amateur game, is seeking willing volunteers to join our team of national golf Course Raters.

As part of a fully trained team, Course Raters walk golf courses assessing the difficulty of each hole in line with the USGA Course Rating Framework which ensures consistency in the measurement of each course’s difficulty.

Course Raters play a critical role in establishing the Standard Scratch Score (SSS) which is used as the basis for the handicapping system and a key benefit of being a golf club member in Scotland.

Volunteers for these roles will benefit from a variety of benefits including:

  • Training in a recognised course rating accreditation programme
  • Be provided equipment and uniform
  • Get the chance to play new golf courses
