Chief Executive Officer – Mortonhall Golf Club

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a talented, self-motivated and ambitious individual to join one of Scotland’s premier golf clubs, as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Founded in 1892, Mortonhall Golf Club is the oldest course in Edinburgh over which golf is still played. The Course is a superb championship test and boasts unrivalled, scenic views across Edinburgh, the Firth of Forth and the Pentland Hills. The course, originally designed by Willie Park Junior, J H Taylor and James Braid was updated by Fred Hawtree in the 1970’s and is in the process of completing a significant renovation undertaken by renowned golf architects, Mackenzie & Ebert.

This long-established and prestigious private members’ club is seeking a highly motivated Chief Executive Officer with proven management experience and commercial acumen to ensure the smooth running of all aspects of the Club’s operational activity, achieving first class service, financial stability and long-term success for the Club.

The club is in the process of completing a comprehensive strategic review and this role will be integral in developing and implementing the priority actions.

Greenkeeper – Greenburn Golf Club

Club Stewards – Killin Golf Club

Killin Golf Club, situated in the heart of the Perthshire Highlands, is described as the most beautiful 9 hole golf course in Scotland.

The club attracts regular visiting parties and has a busy competition calendar for members as well as golfers from further afield, with hosting five Open competitions throughout the playing season. The clubhouse has built a reputation for having a welcoming environment and attracts regular non-golfing visitors and local trade.

The position of Club Steward(s) would suit a couple or an individual, with good experience in the catering and bar industry and a focus on excellent customer service. Being positioned in a busy tourist area there is opportunity to attract more visitors and local residents to make increased use of the golf course and clubhouse.

The main responsibilities and duties include:

  • Managing visitor bookings
  • Preparing and presenting meals and snacks
  • Managing and serving the bar
  • Managing and serving the clubhouse shop

The club is open from March until the end of October and during the winter period the Club Steward(s) will support the Club Committee in planning for the following season and supporting any local or seasonal events.

Greenkeeper – Killin Golf Club

Killin Golf Course is a picturesque, 9 hole course, set in the beautiful scenery of the Perthshire Highlands. Often described as the most beautiful 9 hole golf course in Scotland. We have 9 holes but 18 different tees for the gents and 15 different ladies medal tees plus junior and visitor tees.

Applicants are sought for the green-keepers position.

The main responsibilities and duties include:

  • The management and maintenance of all green keeping equipment

  • Keeping members and visitors up to date through various means.

This role is to be filled on a Self-employed basis. Hours are variable depending on season.

Catering Franchise Opportunity – Elgin Golf Club

Elgin Golf Club invites applications for a franchise agreement to supply a catering service at Elgin Golf Club. We are seeking a forward-thinking, self-motivated partner looking to work with us to provide food and develop the potential of the location and the Club’s facilities.

Elgin Golf Club offers a spacious and modern professionally-equipped kitchen. The recently refurbished front-of-house areas include an open-plan lounge and dining room that provide a convivial setting, overlooking the golf course, for dining, social functions and general catering and can comfortably accommodate functions for parties of up to 90. In addition to meeting the daily catering needs of its 1000 members, the Club caters for guests and visitors all year round.

The requirements include:

  • delivery of high-quality food.
  • providing food ranging from daily bar menus with specials, light meals, Sunday lunches, team matches, club social functions, themed dining evenings as well as member and non-member private functions/celebrations.
  • flexibility in the hours of service.
  • hold current and relevant food preparation and health & hygiene qualifications.
  • responsibility for employing their own staff, including recruitment, staff rotas and all HR matters.
  • demonstrate an aptitude to continually assess and develop the business, and the partnership with Elgin Golf Club.
  • working effectively together with the Club Manager, the Bar Supervisor and the Elgin Golf Club Council.

PACKAGE

We are open to negotiation on a mutually beneficial agreement. That is, we would consider applications from other catering establishments, or those wishing to set up a catering business where providing catering for the Club is not the only avenue of income.

We encourage applicants to propose a structure that would maximise joint benefit.
