Consumer Credit

Consumer Credit Act

Clubs are alerted to the fact Scottish Golf have sought advice from law firm DLA Piper on the implications for golf clubs across Scotland of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

The Consumer Credit regulatory body is changing from 1 April 2014, which could have implications for clubs. The plan is for the regulation of Consumer Credit to be transferred to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). This is of note for clubs who run their own direct debits, and for clubs who run them through a third party provider.

The guidance note sets out a summary of the advice and clubs are encouraged to read through it.
