Stranraer Golf Club’s Jacqueline Wright and Ravelston Golf Club’s Katie Darling both overcame a fierce day of competition today as champions at the Revive Active Scottish Women’s Regional Medal Grand Final, held at The Duke’s, St Andrews.
A final total of 70 saw Jacqueline top the leader board in the bronze division, with Inverurie Golf Club’s Jacqueline Guthrie in second with 76 – one point ahead of Gilford Golf Club’s Shona Paton who placed third with 77.
Katie topped the silver division competition with 68, with Muthill Golf Club’s Hazel Dean and Harburn Golf Club’s Jennifer Bryans taking the second and third spots with 71 and 72 respectively.
All golfers competing in the grand final qualified by placing in the top 6 across both silver and bronze divisions in the previously held regional finals.
Upon winning the competition, Katie Darling said: “I think a home advantage definitely helped. I play at this course quite a lot because I’m a student at St Andrews University so it was fun to come back and play.”
The competition, sponsored by Revive Active, is another example of Scottish Golf’s commitment to encouraging more female players to get involved in the sport across each of the affiliated clubs in Scotland.
