The Tennant Cup is a popular 72-hole stroke play event, a key title on the Order of Merit calendar.
Venue: Glasgow Gailes / Killermont
Glasgow Golf Club, founded in 1787, it is the ninth oldest golf club in the world, boasting two top quality courses 35 miles apart. At Killermont, on the North bank of the River Kelvin, and just five miles from Glasgow city centre, lies a manicured parkland course which follows the original line of play to the greensites laid out by Old Tom Morris in December 1903.
At Gailes, on the Ayrshire coast, lies a challenging links course. It was designed by Willie Park Jnr in 1912 and is chosen regularly by the R&A as a final qualifying course for The Open Championship.
The Gailes links, along with Hillside in Southport, Woburn near Milton Keynes and Royal Cinque Ports in Kent, are currently final Open qualifiers for a four-year term, regardless of where The Open is held.
