Stirlingshire club Glenbervie are this week going for glory at the European Men’s Club Trophy in Portugal.
The event, at Aroeira Golf Club, takes place from today until Saturday (24 – 26 October).
Glenbervie (pictured above) booked their dream place after winning the TSG Scottish Club Championship trophy with a thrilling one-shot victory at a bright and breezy Luffness New last month.
The trio of Fraser Moore, Colin Mundie and Mark Hislop posted a 10-over par aggregate of 290, to finish just a shot clear of Craigie Hill and Southerness.
The same three players have now headed to the continent to battle it out against other nations from across Europe.
Wrexham, County Sligo and Coventry are the other clubs representing the British Isles. Teams from France, Germany, Holland, Italy and Switzerland are also among those competing.
The Stirlingshire club were runners-up in the Scottish Club Championship in 2006 and 2007, before going one better at Luffness.
A delighted Moore spoke of his club’s joy at taking the title: “We’ve got a good team and we knew we had a chance of winning coming into the event as we thought we were one of the strongest teams.
“It’s fantastic to win and we’re all really looking forward to representing Glenbervie and Scotland over in Portugal.”
The first day in Portugal was cancelled due to weather conditions.
