As Scottish Golf continues to celebrate #GolfHealthWeek, the national governing body is delighted to be teaming up with Sports Heritage Scotland and Alzheimer Scotland to deliver free-to-attend training sessions for all affiliated club volunteers and staff who are passionate about setting up their own Golf Memories Group.
What is Golf Memories?
A Golf Memories Group is a community led group based at a golf facility. The aim of the group is to support those living with memory loss conditions, notably dementia, but is open to anyone who is older, isolated, lonely or suffering from other age-related medical conditions.
After successful The R&A will also be supporting the initiative as part of their involvement in the Golf and Health Project.
Why should our club get involved?
Memory loss conditions affect an increasing number of golfers and members of Scottish Golf clubs. Golf Memories Groups can assist clubs to deal with wider issues that arise around members with these challenges and provide them with a life-improving reminiscence experience. The training on offer will also help clubs strengthen their position at the heart of their local community.
