The R&A supported 30 amateur golfers from across the world to compete in the South American Amateur Championships.
Last year’s Scottish Golf Women’s Order of Merit winner Hannah McCook (Grantown on Spey) was joined by domestic men’s winner Calum Fyfe (Cawder) and two other Scots, Shannon McWilliam from Aboyne, pictured top, and Kilmarnock Barassie’s Euan Walker for the men’s and women’s events.
The 72-hole championships were played at Martindale Country Club, Buenos Aires, with McCook firing a final round of four-under-par 68, the joint lowest score of the day, to finish fifth in a field of 52. McWilliam returned a closing 77 to finish joint 13th.
Walker and Fyfe finished joint 18th and 23rd respectively in a field of 70 players in the men’s event.
Six young Scots also represented Scotland in a new mixed event in Morocco this week, aided by the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation.
A six-strong side took part in the International Moroccan Girls & Boys Championship at the Samanah Golf Club in Marrakech, involving eight nations with a different format for each of the three days. The players included Scottish Girls champion Hannah Darling from Broomieknowe.
The Scots produced a fine week’s golf to finish second overall, 12 strokes behind winners Spain.
