The R&A’s Rules Education Programme
If you are interested in refereeing or furthering your knowledge of the Rules of Golf, then the Scottish Golf Rules School (Level 2) is for you. This fantastic education programme is run in conjunction with The R&A and forms part of the Rules Education programme.
The Rules Education Progrgamme consists of three stages:
- Level 1 Introductory Rules School
- Level 2 Rules School
- Level 3 Tournament Administrators and Referees School
Prior to sitting Level 2 Rules School candidates are not expected to have completed level 1, however to hit the ground running we recommend that you sign up to the Level 1 – R&A Online Rules Academy, building a comprehensive Rules knowledge in the process. The course is open to golf club officials and members of an affiliated golf club within GB&I with an interest in refereeing and for those who wish to further their knowledge of the Rules of Golf.
Level 2 Rules School – 2016
This exciting 2½ day course seeks to develop and enhance your knowledge by guiding you through rules and outlines the importance of the defined terms used in the rule book, providing an insight into the rules by using practical demonstrations, question and answer sessions and interactive DVD and presentations. The School is run by qualified instructors from Scottish Golf, all with experience of refereeing at some of the world’s most elite amateur and professional tournaments.
The School is limited to 45 delegates, the cost per person is £120 and includes a ‘Decisions and Rules’ book, preparation guide with practice papers and lunch and refreshments during the course.
The examination will be two hours and the pass mark will be 60%. Successful candidates will receive a certificate to acknowledge their achievement. You should be aware that in order to pass the exam you are likely to have to put in some preparation time in advance of the course, especially as part of the exam does not allow reference books. The preparation pack will give full details of the format and types of questions which will be asked in the exam, as well as guidance for preparing for the course and exam.
