Coaching and Support
Scottish Golf provides a strong and experienced coaching and support team for players at all levels of Performance, from the Academy through to the leading National Squads.
Each member of this team plays an important role in player development throughout each stage, at various locations throughout the country. Scottish Golf also utilises support services from the scottish institute of sport to help players around areas such as strength and conditioning, physio and psychology.
As well as a strong network of coaches, the national governing bodies also have excellent relationships with Scotland’s leading male and female professionals.
The likes of Colin Montgomerie, Paul Lawrie, Stephen Gallacher, Richie Ramsay, Martin Laird and Scott Jamieson have offered support and advice to national players in recent years, with Catriona Matthew, Pamela Pretswell, Kylie Walker and Carly Booth among the females who have also assisted.
Indeed, Matthew, the nation’s most successful female golfer, is lending her expertise to help guide the nation’s leading amateurs as part of Scottish Golf’s Performance team.
Meantime, Gallacher’s junior Foundation were sponsors of the Scottish Boys Stroke Play Championship for two years, while Lawrie’s foundation signed up as official sponsor of the Scottish Boys Championship in 2012, the first Tour professional to give financial backing to a Scottish Golf Union national event.
