Ahead of a trip down under for the ISPS HANDA World Super 6 event in Perth, three times European Tour winner Richie Ramsay spent time at Blairgowrie Golf Club.
Ramsay, who is about to embark on his 11th European Tour season, took part in a Question and Answer session with members as well a delighting them with a surprise putting lesson in the clubhouse to round off the evening.
Club Secretary Steven Morgan said: “We were thrilled to welcome Richie back to Blairgowrie during a break in a busy schedule.
“He entertained us with wonderful memories of his years on Tour, his views on the recent rules controversies and playing with everyone from Tiger Woods to Donald Trump in his pre-presidential days.”
As the only Scot to have won the US Amateur Championship, Ramsay is an inspiration to all and his visit was a follow-up to a coaching session he delivered for Blairgowrie’s juniors last season, with several now breaking into the Scotland set-up.
“He always encourages young Scottish golfers and it was particularly good to hear Richie talk so highly of the talent coming through in our junior section at Blairgowrie, where we have high hopes for several of the youngsters keen to follow in the footsteps of players like Richie and our own Bradley Neil,” said Morgan.
“Richie recalled his days as an amateur proudly playing for Scotland and winning the US Amateur title.
“The audience were given an insight to the life of a globe-trotting professional.”
