Heads up Scottish Golf’s marketing department and responsible for the generation of commercial income through sponsorship and other revenue streams. Key areas of work include digital marketing activity on website, e-communication and social media, design and print, club communication and sponsorship activation, while the role also supports clubs with education and guidance on marketing, recently running a series of ‘Club Marketing on a Budget’ workshops.
Ross has recruited a number of major sponsors during his time at Scottish Golf, including Aberdeen Asset Management, Allied Surveyors Scotland, Belhaven, Dunfermline Building Society, Fairstone Financial Management, Highland Spring, RBS SSE Scottish Hydro, TaylorMade-adidasGolf and UBS. Also responsible for the overall management of the Scottish Golf Awards, from ticket and sponsorship sales through to event delivery.
An honours marketing graduate from the University of Strathclyde Business School, Ross previously worked with two major marketing agencies in Edinburgh and London, with clients such Hilton Hotels, Scottish Mutual, Walkers Crisps and Whitbread Pubs.
Other roles included Brand Manager of Sunderland Football Club and Sponsorship Activation Manager for Whyte & Mackay. Currently a member of Gullane and home club Peebles, where he is the club’s vice-captain, marketing convenor and a Level 1 ClubGolf Coach. Golfing claim to fame is winning the Peebles Junior Championship in 1990 and the Johnnie Walker Championship Pro-Am.
