News: Challenges Ahead for Scottish Golf after AGM Setback
Scottish Golf Chair Eleanor Cannon has expressed her “deep disappointment” after the membership voted against a proposal to increase the annual affiliation fee paid by members for the first time in five years (Saturday 10 March).
At the governing body’s Annual General Meeting in Edinburgh, members voted narrowly to reject the investment proposals, leaving Scottish Golf to reduce its spending accordingly.
AGM Re-adjourned for Saturday 10 March at Dalmahoy

AGM Update – Sunday 4 March
The Chair of Scottish Golf, Eleanor Cannon proceeded with formally opening the 2018 Annual General Meeting of Scottish Golf Limited at 2.30pm on Sunday 4 March, in the presence of Karin Sharp, Company Secretary and Paul Pignatelli of DWF LLP, the company’s lawyers.
With no other members in attendance, the chair (as previously intimated to members over the last 48 hours as a result of the exceptional weather conditions across the country) used the 88 proxy votes in her favour to adjourn the meeting, in accordance with the articles of association of the company, to Saturday 10 March (time to be advised) at the same venue, Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club.
With no other business to attend to, the meeting closed and it was agreed that the Company Secretary would communicate the adjournment to all members as well as advising that, while current proxies continue to remain valid for the adjourned meeting, members would, until 48 hours before the adjourned meeting, be able to revise/change any current proxy instructions or submit new ones. This reopening of proxies ensures that no member is deprived of his/her/its ability to record a vote at the adjourned AGM.
Scottish Golf is pleased to announce details for the 2018 Annual General Meeting (AGM) which takes place on Sunday 4 March in Edinburgh.
Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club, easily accessible on the outskirts of the capital, is to host the event, with representatives from all affiliated Clubs, Counties and Areas invited to attend.
Building on positive feedback from ‘The Future of Golf in Scotland’ national conference in December, Chair Eleanor Cannon, the Board of Directors and a guest speaker will be in attendance, outlining the opportunities for all involved in Scottish Golf with the continued objectives of growing the game and stronger clubs.
The event will commence with registration from 11.45am, with a networking opportunity available over a soup and sandwich lunch from 12 noon and the AGM, presentations and discussions scheduled between 1 and 3pm.
